Stormy

August 14, 2009

We are rained in this morning, a chilly rain that is making us wish we’d packed warmer clothes. My aunt, uncle and cousin arrived last night and we’d plan to drive up to the ski basin to hike this morning, but instead, everyone is sitting around on assorted electronic devices. For the 8 people in the house, we have the following internet-ready devices (almost all Apple — family loyalty)

1 desktop
6 laptops
3 iPhones
2 other cell phones
3 iTouches
1 iPod nano

The wireless is getting a workout. Could we be a bigger family of geeks?

The rain has enhanced all of the good smells and the house smells like damp pinon trees. We are trying to decide whether to visit museums or a foundry where we can watch sculptures being cast and glass being blown this afternoon. But if truth be told, no one is in a huge hurry to go anywhere. It’s cozy inside, spectacular outside, with the clouds roiling around us, and there’s plenty of tea and company.

Do you have any bluetooth items, such as mice or headsets?

I’m catching up on your vacation posts so far. The scenery is breathtaking!

We opted for tea and company and then a museum. The foundry isn’t doing a pour today, which means it’s apparently not as exciting as it will be tomorrow afternoon. Smed, no bluetooth. Amazingly, we are actually speaking to one another while staring at our respective electronic devices. So I guess we could be even geekier. And Julia, it really is. I’ve run out of batteries, so I haven’t taken pictures the last couple of days, but it is incredible. The light changes constantly. Even the clouds are spectacular.
