Brave, Brave Sir AJ

October 25, 2009

We had a disgustingly picturesque October weekend, complete with hikes in the woods, a visit to a pumpkin patch, two Halloween parties, one including a hayride, a fresh-baked batch of sugar and spice cookies (my grandmother’s recipe), the last baseball game of the season (with AJ on the mound), and an all-family leaf-raking and pile-jumping extravaganza. And what do I have to show for it? Only this demonstration of how hard Mrs. Stein’s life is:

Oh, man, Red would LOVE this costume! Mrs. Stein looks appropriately wary.

    That’s a seriously great sword!

We went to a neighbor’s garage sale Sat and saw two REAL ones. The boys were drooling, but their allowance wouldn’t have come close! (As if I’d have let them)

Oh, that’s wonderful! Mrs. Stein looks a bit like my late, lamented Puff.

Oh! I’ve been watching some old BBC Robin Hood series, and AJ looks like he’d fit right in. (Alos, Mrs Stein looks like my old cat, Teddy.)

Freshhelll, Mrs. Stein is not the most intelligent of beasts, but wariness she has learned. Jill, Mr. Spy, who is an ex-fencer, has a sabre, which we briefly considered, but it proved too heavy and long for practical Halloween use. Readersguide, I’ve been wondering about that Robin Hood series. Is it any good?
