Scenes from a Blizzard, part 2

February 2, 2011

The wind howled all night. It’s howling now, but the snow has stopped and the sun is shining.

The view from my bedroom window this morning:

The back deck, where the drifts look to be at least 4 feet deep:

Several inches of snow sifted through the screens and onto the porch:

The view from the dining room window:

The view from the family room windows:

What we found when we opened the mudroom door:

The blowing snow has left strange contours of snow on the roof:

The shoveling begins:

Mr. Spy got out early to dig AJ a path so he could visit his friend across the street. He is not tall enough to walk through the snow:

So come on over…if you can find a way in:

If you can’t, you could try walking down the street:

Our neighbors’ roof looks worse than ours:

But the ducks seem to be enjoying the weather:

Whew! I lived in Chicago when I was a kid, and I remember the snow being so thick I couldn’t move in it. When I moved to Colorado it was much easier. I don’t know what it’s like in Wisconsin, I refuse the leave the house 🙂

You definitely got the worst of the drifts there. This morning I found that the top of my car was almost totally clear – because the snow had drifted and packed solid under it.
