Mirage like soft blue, like lanterns below

March 31, 2013

If you don’t read this in an RSS feed (and if, like me, you use google reader, you may not be reading a feed for long), you may have noticed I’ve done a slight page redesign. I’ve been thinking of retiring my header image for a while, since the photo of the typewriter and LPs and CDs and lilacs was taken in a very specific spot in my old house. I was really happy with that image — it always felt like me. But I think it’s time for a change. The new image is cropped from a photo I took while walking through DUMBO this morning en route to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a day full of the kinds of images that haunted me before I even moved here. I have a strange obsession with spaces under bridges. I dream about them. I have as long as I can remember.

    Absolutely love the new header.

P.S. I think of Irene when I think of DUMBO, that incredible picture of the carousel all lit up and about to get completely engulfed by water.

Sandy completely cut it off from land. It was nice to see it in person today, up and running and packed with children. I took a picture of it, but I just noticed it’s not here. I’ll have to go look for it.

Nice header. I also liked the other one, but a change necessitates a change.

Sorry, Sandy not Irene. Irene was ours in Boston 😉

P.S. As for Google Reader going belly up, I have transferred all my feeds to theoldreader.com. The interface is almost identical to Google’s.

I’ve switched from Google Reader to The Old Reader (http://theoldreader.com). It took them a while to migrate my feeds because they’re swamped with Google refugees, but it’s a familiar experience with some nice details.

I’m using netvibes right now and it seems to be doing ok. I used an iGoogle page, not a reader, but this will do either.
